I always remember a phrase regarding Joyce: I remember the little things, like your voice so tough but pudding underneath and the way the tip of your tongue sticks out when you concentrate on things like tying a shoe or jacking a shot….

And he loves his alliterations, almost too much, like it was some sort of addiciton itself. An autopsy later revealed that Morgan had Percodan and cocaine in his system, and his blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit. Found this book down a Wikipedia hole. Its an adventure and pretty damn funny, worth a look maybe if you like chuck pahulnuik,or irvine walsh? Skip to Main Content Area. Paperbackpages.
Twenty-two years later, Homeboy remains a singular experience. En als we dit artikel, dat in in Esquire verscheen mogen geloven, dan was Morgan, die zichzelf en zijn vriendin in de dood injoeg met een motorongeluk, zelf een wandelende rampzone.
Neglected Authors: Seth Morgan
While this is probably to be expected no one who dates Janis Joplin is interested in restraintthe novel is so extravagant in its language, details, indulgences, in everythingit seems, that barely a sentence passes without a dizzying proclamation, a shocking incident, or the introduction of a new character, or two, or three, all aggressively challenging your suspension of disbelief.
I looked at the book in his hand, it was Homeboy by Seth Morgan. He is guilty, ad nauseum, of this prose, a wild poet gone amuk at times]. If that makes it sound depressing, believe me, it’s not.
Both were killed instantly. Natuurlijk krijg je hier en daar te maken met gimmicks en zocht Morgan bewust voor synoniemen en verwarrende alternatieven, maar dat maakt het – zeker voor een non-native speaker als ondergetekende – alleen maar interessanter. The plot is nothing special, though well handled. How I’d never heard of this book before is beyond me. And I was like, homeboj, no, no, not another trendy-ass boutique, you’re on your own. Now there are books with their own languages.
I mean it’s great for travel and all, but I’m home, I want to feel paper and turn pages, and… so yeah, I looked in my book shelf and found Homeboy. I couldn’t wait to read his second novel. The story centers around a vicious killing and how one strip show barker gomeboy the name of Joe Speaker ssth got involved. After serving three years of his three-to-five sentence, he returned to San Francisco and, barring the role of stickup man, promptly returned to his old vices.
Seth Morgan’s novel stands out as one of the great reading experiences of my life. Now this was a great, if utterly disgusting, first novel. Als lezer zit het moelijkste werk dan ook erop na die verwarrende openingshoofdstukken.
HOMEBOY by Seth Morgan | Kirkus Reviews
hmeboy Morgan’s only title published was Homeboy a novel about heroin addicts and criminals in San Francisco. Events land him in the federal pen, with a number of people on his butt. Morgan’s prose cannot be sprinted through though; it is best bitten off in chunks and chewed.
